VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A man passed out behind the wheel of his car who woke up and repeatedly slammed into police vehicles was carrying methamphetamine, oxycodone and testosterone, according to court documents.

Montgomery Hedges, 21, appeared in court Tuesday on charges of first-degree assault, attempt to elude, drug possession and possession with intent to deliver drugs.

Hedges was arrested Monday.

Police responded to a store's parking lot on the 13500 block of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard at 5:50 a.m. to check on a man who was reported to be slumped over in a car with the motor running.

A probable cause affidavit states the car was in gear and Hedge's foot was on the brake pedal.

When officers contacted him, an affidavit states he took his foot off the brake and drove into an unoccupied patrol vehicle in front of his car.

According to the affidavit, Hedges then rolled his window up and intentionally drove into the patrol car again, before putting his car into reverse and backing into a different unoccupied police vehicle.

Hedges then drove forward again and hit another police car with an officer inside, according to court documents.

Hedges is accused of leading police on a chase for several city blocks, running stop signs and red lights at a high rate of speed.

Court documents state pedestrians and other vehicles had to take "evasive action" to avoid being hit by Hedges.

The chase ended when Hedges drove into a tree and was boxed in by officers.

A probable cause affidavit states officers found methamphetamine in a small pack strapped around Hedges' shoulder, along with pills suspected to be oxycodone and hydrocodone and a vial containing testosterone hormone.

The affidavit states a scale was also located in the pack.

Police said Hedges had a suspended driver's license.

Hedges had bail set at $50,000 on Tuesday. A formal arraignment is set for June 24.
