WEST LINN, OR. (KPTV) -

Police in West Linn are looking for a hit-and-run driver who slammed into a family’s car with a 1-year-old baby inside.

Clifford Senner said he was leaving the Walmart parking lot on June 4 and was by the Kaady Car Wash off Hidden Springs Road when he got stopped in construction on Highway 43.

Senner said a man driving a black Chevrolet pickup was waiting ahead of him in that line of traffic when the man got angry at a highway worker who told him he’d have to wait some 20 minutes before he could pass through.

According to Senner, the driver put his truck in reverse and slammed backwards into his family's car. Senner said the force of the crash was so strong it shoved the engine inside of his car.

Senner claimed the driver took off without checking to see if his family was alright, adding that he thinks the driver's behavior indicates he was drunk.

“He hit the street worker’s sign when he took off. He almost hit five more street workers as he was going down the street,” Senner said. “That drunk driving is dangerous. He could have killed us, and I’d rather him get found and get off the streets. He needs to learn from what happened.”

Senner said the truck still had dealer plates and that he noticed a blue trip permit on the truck window. Unfortunately, he didn’t get a good look at the driver.

Fortunately, Senner said his family is doing just fine aside, from some minor bumps and bruises. However, their car is totaled.

Investigators with the West Linn Police Department said this is an open and active investigation, and that they are working to track down the driver of that black pickup. They also asked that anyone with information on this incident to please give them a call.
