PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police arrested a man Wednesday in connection with a March shooting involving a woman and several children inside a car.

Police served a warrant at a home in southeast Portland and arrested 28-year-old James Lee Lewis Jr. on charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon.

On March 26 around 3.41 p.m., Portland police responded to reports of a shooting around northeast 27th Avenue and Lombard Street.

A woman said she had been driving her car with two children and another man inside when she stopped at northeast 27th Avenue and Lombard.

Another vehicle then pulled up beside her. Several black men got out of the car and started shooting the woman’s car.

The woman sped away on Lombard while the other car fled on 27th Avenue.

No passengers were injured in the shooting.

The Gang Enforcement Team developed probable cause that Lewis was one of the suspected shooters, leading to a warrant for his arrest.

Police are still searching for the other suspects involved in the shooting.

Original reports had indicated there had been three children inside the car.
