A 14-year-old girl told police that a man drove up behind her and yelled at her to get into his car near Floyd Light Middle School.

Police responded to the school at 10800 S.E. Washington St. at 11:41 a.m. Thursday.

The girl told investigators that she was walking on Southeast 100th Avenue, between Main Street and Market Street, when the incident occurred.

The girl told police she did not know the man. The student reached for her cell phone and ran away.

She said the driver pulled away and was last seen heading south on 100th Avenue.

The suspect is described as a clean-cut white man in his 40s driving a dark gray sedan. The girl told investigators the car was clean and in good shape.

The driver never got out of his car and did not touch the girl.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.

Police said the description of the suspect and his car do not match any other known similar cases.

Last week, the Portland Police Bureau reported numerous recent "stranger danger" incidents involving people approaching children, mostly in southeast Portland. Each case appeared to involve different suspects, but officers said they were all alarming enough to notify the public.
