LINN COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Investigators have arrested a man after finding him in possession of thousands of digital pictures and movies of children engaged in sexual activities, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Ronald Eugene Dial Jr., 48, faces a first-degree charge of encouraging child sexual abuse. Dial was arrested at his residence on Ede Road near Lebanon June 9.

The sheriff’s office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after a Google server flagged the material being emailed using a Gmail account tied to an I.P. address in Linn County.

Numerous electronic items were seized from Dial, a registered sex offender, during the arrest and are being reviewed by forensic investigators.

According to the sheriff’s office, Dial admitted to sending the material through his Gmail account while being interviewed by detectives.

The investigation is continuing, and Dial is being held at the Linn County Jail.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office noted that they were assisted in this case by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Lewis County (Wash.) Sheriff's Office, the Albany Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
