ORLANDO, FL (KPTV) -

An Oregon native described the harrowing moments inside Pulse nightclub during Sunday's shooting in Orlando.

Brandon Wolf is from Canby but moved to Orlando. Wolf was at Pulse with his best friend Drew Leinonen when the shooting happened.

Wolf said he was in the bathroom when the first shots rang out.

"We went to the bathroom and that's when we heard the first shots fired. And at first we didn't know what was happening and we looked at each other and were like, what is that? And I was like, I'm not sure, it sounds like the music is broken or something and then people started piling in the bathroom and you could smell this scent of blood and smoke and then my eyes got really big and I looked at him and I said, we have to leave, we have to get out of here."

Leinonen did not survive the shooting.

Forty-nine people were killed in the shooting. Of the 53 injured in the attack, 28 people are still in the hospital.
