PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A bright Portland Pride Week event happened Friday night as the Glow Run took place near the Portland waterfront.

The three mile run started at 9:00 p.m. under the Morrison Bridge.

For some of the runners, this event was about welcoming others and love.

“Really I think more than anything right now it's about love, it's about kindness and no matter who you are, you have a place in Portland," Vancouver resident and runner Danielle Johnson said.

"I think it's super important to spread the message of love, especially with all that hate out there, so I hope we could all come together as one," runner Ashley Boulter added.

Pride Week activities continue over the weekend, with the Portland Pride Festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the Portland Pride Parade on Sunday.
