Water main breaks near Tigard High School, one home damaged

Posted: Updated:

Crews responded to a water main break at Tigard High School early Monday morning.

The Tigard Police Department said the break happened at the school’s soccer field around 4:25 a.m.

The water from the break ran through a nearby home on southwest Waverly Drive behind the school for about 30 minutes, according to officials.

The home owner said about 10 feet of water gushed over his back fence, bringing large amounts of mud and dirt into his yard.

He said about two feet of water flooded his garage and crawlspace, but luckily water was not able to get into his living area.

The water has been turned off and so far only one home has been affected.

The cause of the break is unknown.

The break has not affected any traffic in the area.
