Outdoorsmen celebrate Father’s Day with fatherless kids

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Father’s Day is a special time to spend with Dad. But what if you don’t have that opportunity?

That was the question a few Vancouver outdoor enthusiasts at Faith Outfitters asked themselves.

Founded in 2013 by a group of men who love the outdoors, the goal of Faith Outfitters is to give children who may have not grown up with a father the opportunity to spend time with male role models.

The program also aims to teach children about the outdoors and to immerse them in all activities one can do outside.

Faith Outfitters held their first Father’s Day event Sunday at a trout pond outside of Battle Ground.

About 35 kids had the opportunity to fish, hike, shoot bows and arrows, and participate in other outdoor activities with several male volunteers.

Faith Outfitters said the event was a huge success. The group plans to continue the annual event for years to come.
