A man was arrested on charges including assault and DUII after running a red light and slamming into a Volkswagen Beetle in Gresham early Monday morning, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to Southeast 162nd and Stark Street on reports of a crash.

They arrived to find two people pinned inside a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle that had been hit on the passenger door by a truck.

The driver of the pickup, identified as 36-year-old Blake Wesley Huffman, was arrested on charges of DUII, third-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief, reckless endangering and reckless driving.

The driver of the Volkswagen was treated at the scene for minor injuries. A passenger in the car was taken by ambulance to the hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening.
