PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 50-year-old man was killed and a 52-year-old woman was injured in a shooting that was connected with a drug deal in Portland's Old Town Chinatown district, according to police.

Police identified the victims Tuesday as Chester Eugene Newborn and Wendy Dannette Mustacci.

Police responded to Northwest 4th Avenue between Davis Street and Couch Street at 10:15 p.m. Sunday.

Officers said Newborn and Mustacci were each found suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Newborn was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Mustacci was shot in the leg.

Witnesses identified a possible suspect to officers. Thomas Lincoln Dorris, 48, was found at a gas station on Southwest 3rd Avenue and Burnside.

A Chevron employee told FOX 12 that Dorris ran into the gas station office and tried to hide his gun in the freezer, but the freezer was locked so he set it on the counter. The worker said three customers were nearby at the time and huddled down on the ground until police arrived.

Dorris was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on the charge of murder.

Homicide detectives said Tuesday the shooting is believed to have been in connection with a drug deal.
