Police: Felon fired gun into the ground during fight in NE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 57-year-old man was arrested on charges including felon in possession of a firearm after firing a gun into the ground during a fight in northeast Portland, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a disturbance with a weapon on the 4100 block of Northeast Killingsworth Street at 8:48 p.m. Monday.

They arrived and located the suspect, 57-year-old Dee Overton Johnson, who was arrested. Police said a handgun was seized from his vehicle.

Investigators said Johnson was involved in an argument with a 59-year-old man that turned physical before Johnson fired a shot into the ground.

Johnson was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, fourth-degree assault, menacing, recklessly endangering another person, unlawful possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm in the city and disorderly conduct.
