Man detained after leaving scene of two-vehicle crash, one person seriously injured

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police said a driver involved in a head-on two-vehicle crash was taken into custody after he ran away from the crash scene.

Police said they responded to the crash at Northeast 33rd Avenue and Killingsworth Street around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

When police arrived, they found a crashed Toyota Corolla and a crashed Cadillac Escalade. The driver of the Toyota, an adult female, was taken to a Portland hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the driver and passenger of the Cadillac ran away from the crash scene but were quickly found.

The driver of the Cadillac, a white male, was arrested. Police said they believe he was driving while under the influence.

Police said the driver of the Cadillac was driving at 60 miles per hour in a residential neighborhood.

The Traffic Division's Major Crash Team are investigating the crash.
