LAKE OSWEGO, OR (KPTV) -

Eighteen residents of the Tanglewood Hills Condos in Lake Oswego have been displaced after a two-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon.

Lake Oswego Fire Department said they responded to the condo fire at 1:15 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they said they found heavy flames coming from unit 141 and rapidly spreading. A second alarm was requested.

According to Lake Oswego Fire, it took 45 firefighters from Lake Oswego, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Portland Fire about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

The building where the fire was located houses 8 condos. One unit was completely destroyed, and four units had smoke and water damage. All residents were able to find a place to stay with the help from the Red Cross.

Lake Oswego Fire said the resident of unit 141 said he heard a popping sound while power turned off. He then started smelling smoke and went downstairs and saw flames on the back deck. He tried to use an extinguisher but that did not work. The resident left the unit and made sure other residents were evacuated.

No injuries were reported.

Fire investigators said they are not able to investigate the fire due to an unstable deck.

The estimated damage done is $250,000.
