PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The family of Leonard James, "LJ", Irving, the man who was gunned down in the summer of 2011, is still seeking justice for his death.

The case turned cold when police couldn’t verify the shooter.

Irving’s family said they know who killed him, but no one will come forward.

"Everybody knows who killed LJ,” Lucy Mashia, Irving’s mom, said. “Everybody knows, but nobody wanna come forward."

Police say Irving was shot while backing out of a parking spot at the New Happy Fortune Chinese restaurant at Northeast 82nd on June 26 2011.

His sister, Chauncey, said he went out for his nephew’s 21st birthday after working a double. According to Chauncey, Irving left his children at home with his girlfriend for the night.

"He was in that parking lot laying on that cold ground and they wouldn't let me see...I never saw him," Lucy said.

Irving leaves behind three children, two boys, and a girl.

"For us as adults, losing our son and our brother, you know we are just learning to live every day without him, but for his children, the hardest days are to come for them," Chauncey said.

Irving’s mother claimed police have tips and other information about the shooter but they have no one to verify it. She and her daughter are hoping someone will come forward. They told Fox 12 they believe the man responsible is now behind bars for another crime.

Police are now offering a $2,500 reward for information on this case.
