PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 33-year-old man was found naked and suffering from a gunshot wound after trying to break into a home in southwest Portland, according to investigators.

Stanley Wilson II, 33, of Portland, remained in the hospital Thursday. Officials said he will be arrested and booked into jail once he's released from the hospital.

Portland officers and Multnomah County deputies responded to the 4900 block of Southwest Humphrey Boulevard at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday.

A homeowner called 911 to report he had shot a person trying to break in through a window in the backyard of his house.

Officers arrived and contacted the homeowner in his driveway. As they searched the property, police said they found Wilson naked in a water fountain.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. Deputies described his injuries as non-life threatening.

Detectives said Wilson is a former NFL player. He played 32 games for the Detroit Lions as a cornerback from 2005-2007, according to NFL.com. He attended Stanford University and was a third-round draft pick in 2005.

Once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review.
