Renovation projects underway for former Army barracks in Vancouver

Posted: Updated:

They used to house soldiers, but soon people will be able to live and work in the former Army barracks in Vancouver.

There are two projects for the barracks. One is being done by the National Park Service, which is transforming the space into offices.

The other is a City of Vancouver project. They are turning part the old Army space into apartments, office space and possibly a coffee shop or pub.

"The idea is to preserve the historic fabric and modernize so it is state-of-the-art, functioning for offices as well," said project manager Ray Cozby.

The office space project renovation is set to finish in November, and the apartments should be ready by next April.
