TIGARD, OR (KPTV) -

A man was critically injured when he attempted to cross Southwest Pacific Highway in Tigard while traffic headed through a green light, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection with Dartmouth Avenue at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses told police the pedestrian, 32-year-old Jonathan Allen, appeared to be trying to cross the highway, "with disregard to traffic moving with a green light."

Allen was hit by a northbound vehicle. The driver stopped and remained at the scene.

Allen was taken to the hospital with injuries considered life-threatening.

Northbound drivers on Pacific Highway were re-routed near the crash scene as traffic swelled in the area. The exit to Pacific Highway from northbound Highway 217 was also closed for two hours for the investigation.
