SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Thousands of people attended a rally led by Franklin Graham in Salem on Tuesday.

Graham said he doesn't believe Republicans or Democrats can turn the nation around, saying only God is capable of that.

"While we're holding hands with one another, if we would just pray out loud to God and let's confess the sins of our nation and maybe, just maybe he'll hear our prayers," Graham told the crowd Tuesday.

Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham, is holding prayer rallies in all 50 states this year. A street near the Oregon Capitol had to be shut down Tuesday due to the large crowd attending the rally.

According to organizers, the goal of the Decision America Tour is to, "challenge Christians to pray for America and its leaders, and to live and promote biblical principles at home, in public and at the ballot box."

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon and Basic Rights Oregon issued a joint statement in response to the rally, calling it a "hateful campaign," particularly after the massacre in Orlando.

"Oregonians overwhelmingly reject the politics of division that Franklin Graham and Oregon Life United represent. We stand in solidarity against the toxic rhetoric that breeds acts of terrorism and hatred based on who people love or who they are. Enough is enough," according to a statement from the groups.

Oregon was Franklin Graham's 13th rally, with the next stop in Olympia, Washington.
