PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The tiny house movement has been sweeping the country, and now a Montana based company is offering Portlanders a chance to take a walk through their container homes in downtown Portland.

All of the container homes by Montainer are made out of recycled shipping containers.

The company said they see the need for more affordable housing in our city, and launched a public event in Pioneer Square on Tuesday.

Montainer said they want to show people how small these container homes are that they can fit right into a backyard.

"It really came from the idea that these homes are clearly exciting to people. They love recycled materials. They want a really easy way to install a home in their backyard or in their property, but there wasn't really a way to do that so that's why we former Montainer," said CEO Patrick Collins.

Montainer will be in Pioneer Square until July 2. You can take a tour of the model home by registering for a free ticket at www.montainerhomes.com.
