Crews recover body of 18-year-old who drowned at Milo McIver State Park

ESTACADA, OR (KPTV) -

Rescue crews have recovered the body of an 18-year-old who drowned at Milo McIver State Park.

Crews responded to the area around 5 p.m for a water rescue that later turned into a recovery mission.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said witnesses saw the teen trying to swim across the river with his friends. Two made it across as the 18-year-old attempted to make it across but went under water and did not resurface.

Rescue crews quickly arrived to the area. The teen had been under water for about ten minutes before rescue attempts were made, according to CCSO.

None of the swimmers were wearing life jackets.

Crews were able to recover the teens body. The victim's name has not been released.

Estacada Rural Fire District, CCSO, Clackamas Fire District, Lake Oswego Fire Department, TVF&R, Gladstone Fire Department, American Medical Response, Lake Oswego Fire and Rescue, Gladstone Fire and Rescue, Clackamas County Dive Rescue, Clackamas County Marine Patrol and TV&R Dive Rescue responded to Milo McIver State Park to assist in the recovery.
