SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man on a motorcycle died and a woman was critically injured in a crash with a truck near Salem on Thursday morning.

Emergency crews arrived at Liberty Road South near Jory Hill Road South at around 10 a.m.

Investigators determined the driver of a southbound Chevrolet pickup missed a turn and pulled into a driveway to turn around.

The truck re-entered the roadway and was hit by a northbound Honda motorcycle.

A man on the motorcycle was killed instantly, according to deputies. A woman on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital and remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

The names of the people involved in the crash have not yet been released.

Deputies said the area where the crash occurred has a very limited view for drivers due to a hill and a corner, which is believed to be the primary cause of the crash.

Deputies said impairment from drugs or alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. No citations will be issued in this case, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
