Teen recovering after NE Portland shooting, bullet hit woman's apartment

Portland Police say a teenager is recovering in a hospital Thursday evening after bullets went flying during a fight.

The 15-year-old boy was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center Wednesday night, according to Portland Fire and Rescue. He is expected to recover, but police said he was shot several times. Detectives said it all stemmed from a fight at the Gateway Transit Station.

Fox 12 spoke with a 91-year-old woman who lives around the corner at the Gilman Court building, up on the fifth floor.

Louise Kellow said it was when she got through the police barricade that she found out a bullet had hit her home.

"Well I found pieces of plaster on the floor and I couldn't figure it out and then I looked up at the clock above my phone and there was a piece gone out of it," she said. "It came through and hit my clock and broke a piece off of it. Pieces of plaster all over the floor. They couldn't find the bullet last night."

Police said another man also called to tell them a bullet hit his home as well, but it didn't hit him.

Investigators are searching for the shooter but so far have not made any arrests.
