SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A driver ran over the foot of a deputy near Salem Friday morning during an attempted arrest.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy pulled over Levi Read, 25, of Salem on Connecticut Avenue SE near Macleay Road SE around 5:00 a.m.

After a dispatcher informed the deputy about an outstanding warrant for Read, he approached the vehicle to arrest the driver.

At that point, Read drove off in the vehicle, running over the deputy’s foot in the process, before abandoning the car at an apartment complex. The deputy was not seriously injured.

Deputies have yet to locate Read, who has multiple outstanding warrants for the unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Read’s whereabouts to call 503-588-5032.
