PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Detectives have identified the suspect in a kidnapping, shooting and hit-and-run that shutdown the Hawthorne and Morrison bridges Friday morning.

Portland Police said detectives have secured an arrest warrant for Anthony David Stone, 42.

Officers responded at around 2:23 a.m. to the report that a 41-year-old woman had been kidnapped at gunpoint in the area of Southeast 88th and Powell Boulevard while she walked with a male companion according to Portland police.

The male companion told police that an unknown African American man, now identified as Stone, pulled his car to the curb, got out with a gun, and demanded the victim to get in his car.

Police found a possible suspect vehicle in the area of Southeast 92nd and Holgate Boulevard, but the car quickly sped away.

At 3:35 a.m., officers responded to the area of Southeast 43rd Avenue and Woodward Street on the report that a woman had been shot and previously kidnapped.

When police arrived, they determined that this woman was the same 41-year-old woman that was reported kidnapped a few hours earlier.

Police said she was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The victim told officers that Stone sexually assaulted her.

Officers later responded to a traffic crash at around 4:06 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the Hawthorne Bridge.

Police said they believe Stone shot at his own car before running away across the bridge.

Stone is described as an African American man, 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds.

Police said Stone is considered armed and dangerous. He does not have a local address and has significant and violent criminal history on the East Coast.
