PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

July is Craft Beer month here in Oregon, and on Friday the big Craft Beer Festival in Portland kicked off the celebrations.

Portland's Mayor-elect Ted Wheeler tapped the first keg at the Fields Neighborhood Park in northwest Portland.

The Craft Beer Festival showcases more than 100 craft beers that come from more than 40 Portland breweries.

"Portland has more breweries than any other city in the world and it currently leads the United States in dollars spent on craft beer, so I think those are two awesome stats for Oregon Craft Beer month," said Brian Butenschoen with Oregon Brewers Guild.

The Portland Craft Beer Festival runs through Sunday.

There are more events planned across the entire state of Oregon. For a full list of events, click here.
