HARRISBURG, OR (KPTV) -

Two men were arrested Friday after deputies responded to a disturbance call at a Dari Mart in Harrisburg, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded just after 10 p.m. to multiple reports about an armed disturbance in front of the Dari Mart on 3rd Street.

One 911 caller described hearing a gun discharge and two men fighting in front of the store.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Junction City Police Officers also responded and arrived moments before deputies.

Officers found multiple people in the parking lot in front of the store, and a man bleeding from head injuries and yelling.

According to deputies, Malbert Lawson, 32, went to the store with his grandmother. As Lawson walked to the doors of the store, he heard a thud behind him and turned to see David Patterson, 40, walking by his car.

Lawson asked Patterson if he just kicked his car, which started an argument.

Deputies said Lawson walked back to his car, took out his 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, and confronted Patterson.

According to witnesses’ statements, Lawson shot the gun into the concrete between him and Patterson.

Lawson then pointed the gun at Patterson before he took it back to his car and unloaded it.

Debris from the gunshot hit two people who were not injured.

Lawson’s grandmother confronted Patterson as the gun was being unloaded at the car according to police.

Patterson then hit her and knocked her down according to deputies.

Lawson came out of the car and hit in Patterson the head multiple times with the empty handgun.

Patterson was arrested and charged with assault IV and disorderly conduct.

Lawson was charged with assault II, unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct and two counts of reckless endangering.
