PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A motorcycle rider died after crashing into an SUV in Southeast Portland.

Police were called to reports of a crash on Southeast 82nd Avenue near Schiller Street around 11:45 Saturday night.

The crash involved a motorcycle and a SUV being driver on 82nd Avenue.

Officer and medical personnel found the 45-year-old motorcycle rider lying unresponsive on the road.

Efforts to save the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

Police say the driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperating.

They say the driver was heading north on 82nd Avenue and was turning left into the Don Pedro Mexican Restaurant parking lot when the southbound motorcycle rider crashed into the passenger side.

Investigators say the motorcycle rider’s speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.

The driver of the SUV did not display any signs of impairment, and investigators don’t believe he was distracted.

The name of the people involved have not yet been released.
