PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police said Anthony Stone is the man they are looking for after they say he kidnapped a woman and later crashed his car on the Hawthorne Bridge Friday.

Members of the Special Emergency Response Team searched the area for Stone after the incident, closing several downtown Portland streets, but were not able to find him.

Portland Police said he is from Connecticut, and his criminal history dates back to 1995.

Stone has served time for sexual assault, criminal mischief charges, and disorderly conduct.

He is wanted here in Portland after police said a woman was kidnapped at gunpoint near Southeast 88th and Powell Friday.

She told police the man sexually assaulted her, then shot and left her at 43rd and Woodward.

The woman was taken to the hospital and expected to survive.

Detectives have been told that Stone threatened to shoot it out with police.

If you see him, call 911 right away.
