WARREN, OR (KPTV) -

A Coast Guard Helicopter crew worked with Long Beach Police Department personnel and park rangers to rescue a family of three Saturday.

According to the Coast Guard, the family, including a 20-month-old, were reportedly lost in Leadbetter Point State Park.

The crew was able to land in a clearing near a beach to rescue the lost family, and transferred them to Coast Guard Station Cape Disappointment, where park rangers could take them back to their car.

"This case is a good reminder to heed caution signs and stay on trails in state parks, especially when hiking with children," said Mark Dobney, Sector Columbia River command duty officer. "Fortunately this story had a happy ending, but many of these cases don't."
