THE DALLES, OR (KPTV) -

Governor Kate Brown has invoked the Emergency Conflagration Act in response to the Wassen Pond Fire that is burning in The Dalles.

The grass fire started at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday between Cherry Heights Road and Mill Creek Road. Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue said the fire has burned about 260 acres and the fire is fully lined.

Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue said the fire was about 50 percent contained around 9:30 a.m.

Eight to ten structures were initially threatened but are no longer in immediate danger. A pump house was burned in the fire.

All evacuation notices have been lifted.

No injuries have been reported.

The Emergency Conflagration Act will bring in additional resources to support the effort to contain and stop the fire.

Crews from Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue, Oregon Department of Forestry, United States Forest Service, Hood River County, and Klickitat County are helping battle the fire. A Single Engine Air Tanker is also helping fight the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
