CORVALLIS, OR (KPTV) -

Corvallis Police arrested a man after he reported two fake burglaries and was linked to a robbery that happened in May.

Police said on May 15 they responded to a robbery located on the 500 block on Northwest 21st Street. The victim told police a man approached him with a Marucci brand baseball bat and demanded the victim's wallet. The victim showed the suspect that he had no money and the suspect fled.

The victim was able to give police a good physical description of the suspect, but police were unable to locate him.

On June 18, a man, identified as Grant R. Studdard, reported a burglary at 529 Northwest 21st Street. Police said no suspects were developed from that report.

Then on June 20, Studdard reported another burglary at his home. During that investigation, Studdard told police he hit the suspect in the leg with a baseball bat. Officers seized four baseball bats, three of them were Marucci brand bats.

After an investigation, detectives determined that Studdard matched the description of the suspect from the May 15 robbery. The robbery victim was able to positively identify Studdard as the suspect.

On July 1, Studdard was arrested and charged with robbery in the second degree and menacing. He was taken to the Benton County Correctional Facility on $112,500 bail.
