PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The parents of the young girl who was sexually assaulted on a plane have now filed a $10 million lawsuit against the suspect and American Airlines.

26-year-old Chad Cameron Camp is accused of touching a unaccompanied 13-year-old girl inappropriately on an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Portland last month.

Court documents said Camp was "seen drinking four mixed drinks" within an hour before the flight.

According to court documents, Camp began to "rub up against the girl, lean close to her and fondle her body with his hand." This went on for 30 minutes before Camp was told to move when a flight attendant serving snacks saw Camp with his hand on the girl, according to court documents.

When the flight landed Camp was detained by Port of Portland officers.

The parents of the 13-year-old are now suing Camp and American Airlines, saying they failed to intervene and protect the minor on the plane.

American Airlines release a statement saying:

"American cares deeply about our young passengers and is committed to providing a safe and pleasant travel experience for them.  We take these matters very seriously and have cooperated fully and immediately with law enforcement officials in their investigation of the suspect. Due to the pending criminal case against the suspect, we are referring all questions to law enforcement."
