SHERWOOD, OR (KPTV) -

A California man is facing charges including DUII and second-degree manslaughter for a rollover crash that killed his passenger in the Sherwood area Tuesday night, according to deputies.

Emergency crews responded to Roy Rogers Road north of Scholls-Sherwood Road at 8:16 p.m.

A 2004 Honda Accord was found heavily damaged on its top on the northbound shoulder of Roy Rogers Road.

Investigators determined the car was heading south at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The car hit the ditch and rolled onto its top.

A passenger in the car, Miles McCullough, 27, of Beaverton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Kevin Sumlin, 24, of Oroville, California, was taken to the hospital. After he was treated and released, Sumlin was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on Wednesday on charges of second-degree manslaughter, DUII and reckless driving.

His bail was set at $250,000.
