PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Hillsboro Hops might be ball players by night, but they were bedside guests by day Thursday.

Members of the team visited some of the kids at Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy Emanuel Thursday morning.

The baseball minor leaguers handed out gifts and delivered some grand slam smiles.

"It makes for a good day," said Hillsboro Hops pitcher Tucker Ward. "These kids are fighting to get better. Whether it be healing a bone or maybe a sickness, just like we have to go out there and fight on the field at night, so it really is an inspiration seeing these kids and what they are going through."

Off the field, the Arizona Diamondbacks have extended their affiliation agreement with the Hops through the summer of 2018.
