HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

A mom and her five children safely evacuated their apartment after a fire broke out in one of the bedrooms Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters from Hillsboro Fire Department responded to the fire at 2:05 p.m. When they arrived, they found flames coming from a second floor window at the Pinewood Village Apartments.

Firefighters extinguished the flames within 10 minutes of arriving. Significant fire damage was confined to one room of the apartment. Some damage was done to exterior siding and into the attic space.

Hillsboro Fire & Rescue said the apartment below the fire suffered water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
