MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

Crews from the Clackamas Fire District responded to an ammonia leak at a food distributing company in Milwaukie Friday.

According to the Clackamas Fire District, the ammonia leak at Alpine Foods, located at 2400 Southeast Mailwell Drive was reported at around 10 a.m.

When crews arrived, they learned there was a malfunction with the exhaust system for the plant’s ammonia processor, which caused ammonia to leak into the work areas.

The building was evacuated, and the leak was quickly contained.

There were no injuries reported by workers affected by the leak, according to the Clackamas Fire District.
