PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A new bike sharing program is about to launch in Portland but they are already running into problems with their bike racks.

BIKETOWN is a partnership between Nike and the Portland Bureau of Transportation. It's designed to let people rent a bike at one station then drop it off at another around town.

BIKETOWN officials said people have been locking their private bikes onto their bike racks meant to be used for the ride share bikes only.

Caution tape has been set up around the racks to keep people from using them.

"I don't see any reason people shouldn't lock their bikes if they're not using them for the bike share at the moment," said local cyclist Ted Stenmark.

BIKETOWN is set to launch in Portland July 19.
