An apartment fire displaced 25 people in Longview Saturday, according to Longview Police & Fire.

Crews responded to the fire at the 800 block of 9th Avenue at approximately 12:14 a.m.

When first responders arrived, they found three cars on fire, with flames spreading to the second floor of the apartment building.

Longview Police and Paramedics from AMR helped evacuate people living in the apartment building, as firefighters searched apartments that were threatened by the car fires.

Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and it was under control just before 12:30 a.m.

The fire was contained to the three cars and the outside of the apartment building according to Longview Police & Fire.

The main electrical supply for the building, including meters and main conduits, were also damaged by the fire.

According to Longview Police & Fire, 12 people were provided emergency shelter by the Red Cross.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The building's owner hopes to repair the electrical damage and allow some of the residents to return later on Saturday.

"Our fast response time was the factor that averted a disaster today", said Longview Fire Battalion Chief Eric Koreis. "Despite our highly skilled firefighters, if this incident been 5 minutes further from a fire station, we would have had a very different outcome", Koreis continued.
