PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Two pedestrians were hit at the same location within hours of each other Saturday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Officers responded to a call that a woman was hit by a pickup truck in the 3200 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue just after 10 a.m.

Police said the driver of the pickup, Elvin Priest, 63, was going south on Southeast 82nd Avenue and entered the center refuge lane to make a left turn onto Southeast Franklin.

At the same time a woman, identified as Ailen Chen, 76, tried to cross Franklin Street.

Witnesses said Priest made the left turn slowly, and nearly completed the turn when Chen stepped off the curb and into the path of the car.

Chen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said Priest remained at the scene and was cooperative.

At 12:08 p.m., while crews were investigating the first crash, a second woman was hit at the same intersection by another car.  She suffered minor injuries according to police.

The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind drivers to be aware of both their speed and surroundings.
