Two women escape early morning fire in Clackamas

Posted: Updated:

Two women were able to escape an early morning house fire in Clackamas.

The fire started around 1:10 Sunday morning at a home on Southeast Barbara Jean Court in Clackamas.

When fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke and fire in the garage and on the back of the house.

Clackamas Fire District #1 crews worked aggressively to get into the home to put out the fire and search for any victims.

The amount of damage inside the home complicated the search.

Crews eventually found the uninjured people outside of the home.

It took more than 20 firefighters nearly an hour to put out the fire.

The Red Cross is helping the people who live there.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Clackamas Fire District #1 wants to remind everyone to install and maintain working smoke detectors in their homes.
