Burglary suspect arrested after chase in Clark County

Posted: Updated:

A burglary suspect is in jail after deputies say he led them on a chase in Clark County.

Clark County Deputies were called to reports of a burglary in progress at the Quick Shop Minit Mart on Northwest 36th Avenue at around 3:15 Saturday morning.

When a deputy tried to stop a car he saw at the store, it took off and led the deputy on a brief chase.

The deputy called off the pursuit around Northwest 99th Street and 36th Avenue due to safety.

Several minutes later another deputy spotted the car heading east on Northeast 99th Street near I-5.

They believe the car was going more than 90 miles-per-hour.

The car crossed Highway 99 and the driver lost control, hitting a power pole.

When the deputy arrived he saw the driver get out of the car and run.

The deputy was able to catch up with the driver, identified as 37-year-old Cody Christianson.

Deputies say the car was stolen from the Kelso area.

Christianson is facing several charges including burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, and attempt to elude.

Deputies say Christianson has multiple prior felonies in Cowlitz County, and is the suspect in another burglary in the Hazel Dell area.
