PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Hundreds of people gathered at the waterfront Sunday to pay their respects to the Dallas Police Officers who were killed in a shooting during a Black Lives Matter protest on Thursday.

The event was put together by the Portland Police Association.

Several people had the opportunity to speak at the service, including Portland Police Detective Nathan Sheppard.

Photos of the five fallen officers were placed at the memorial, along with flowers and candles.

"I don't know anyone in Dallas, but there's a brotherhood and sisterhood when you work in this field, everybody's connected," said retired officer Larry Baird.

A Blue Lives Matter rally was also held Sunday in Vancouver.
