ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

Thousands of containers of sour cream were destroyed in a fire on Interstate 5 late Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to Milepost 231 near Albany just before 11 p.m. after a semi driver pulled over and disconnected the burning trailer.

Firefighters said the fire started near the rear wheels. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.

I-5 north was shut down for about an hour while crews put out the fire. The trailer fire also started a small grass fire next to the trailer.

The Tangent Fire District and the Albany Fire Department responded to the scene.
