PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The inspiring true story of a young girl's medical miracle was a hit at the box office.

The film "Miracles from Heaven" stars Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah.

It was the fastest story to go from book to big screen in cinema history.

The movie is based off of Christy Beam's memoir about her middle daughter and her journey during a serious illness.

She was sick for 4 1/2 years before a sudden accident changed their lives.

Anibel fell 30 feet from a tree and hit her head, which miraculously healed her.

Jennifer Garner stars as Christy Beam and Academy Award nominee Queen Latifah played the role of Angela, Beam's family friend.

Since the accident in 2011, Beam and Anibel, now 13, have toured the country sharing their story.

They hope their message gives other families hope.

So far, though, they are not planning on coming to Portland.

MORE’s Jenica Villamor had a chance to speak with the author and real life inspiration for the movie.

"Miracles from Heaven" the movie is available on DVD.
