PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

We are just a few days away from one of tennis' biggest international competition and it's happening in Beaverton.

Athletes from the U.S. and Croatia met with members of the media on Tuesday.

The teams will compete this weekend in quarterfinals of the Davis Cup at the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.

The winner of the match advances to the World Group semifinal, Sept. 16-18, for a chance to compete for the 2016 Davis Cup title.

Team captain Jim Courier said the home court advantage is huge.

"We've played a lot of tough teams, some home but a lot on the road as well and for us to have a chance now to play here against a tough team in Croatia, and should we get through this weekend, which we are obviously here to do and hope to, we'd have a home match against either France or the Czechs." Courier said.

This is the fourth time that the Davis Cup has come to the Portland area.

The best of five match series begins on Friday, July 15 and ends on Sunday, July 17.
