BANKS, OR (KPTV) -

A deadly crash shut down Highway 47 north of Banks on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the area of Milepost 69 at 3:24 p.m.

Firefighters said they arrived at the scene to find two pickups fully engulfed in flames. One of the trucks had overturned down an embankment.

Police said two Ford F-150 pickups were involved in the near head-on crash. Both drivers died in the crash, according to Oregon State Police.

There were no passengers in either pickup.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police said it's possible witnesses may have stopped at the crash scene, but left the area prior to the arrival of emergency crews.

Any witnesses are asked to call the Oregon State Police dispatch center at 503-375-3555.

Highway 47 was shut down for a couple hours but is now back open.
