VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

Vancouver Police Department is warning the public about a firearm that may have been tossed by a suspect during a pursuit on Sunday.

Police said at 10 p.m. July 10 they spotted a suspected stolen car in the Walmart parking lot on Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard. The suspect fled the area and was eventually stopped in the area of Southeast 104th Avenue and St. Helens Avenue.

The suspect, Aaron Michael Smith, 37, was arrested.

Detectives found a .40 magazine and several .40 rounds in the vehicle.

Detectives said the suspect may have thrown a .40 semi-automatic pistol out of the vehicle during the pursuit, which stretched across parts of Clark County near the northeast edge of the city of Vancouver limits and through sections of northeast Vancouver.

If you find the firearm, please call 911 immediately.
