Police: 3 arrested in connection to Columbia River Gorge shooting

Three Portland men were arrested in connection to a shooting Tuesday night on Herman Creek Road in Hood River County according to Oregon State Police.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the three men drove to Herman Creek Road to meet with Charles Kane Jr., 23, and Cody Rau, 21, of Portland.

Kane and Rau drove to the Herman Creek Road meeting site in separate cars according to Oregon State Police.

Police said while at the meeting spot, Kane was shot in the left arm.

Kane and Rau drove away from the meeting spot and stopped along I-84 near the Wyeth interchange. According to Oregon State Police, Rau then drove Kane to the Gresham Area.

After police found them, Kane was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The three suspects were found in the area of the shooting by Oregon State Police Troopers and Hood River Sheriff’s Office Deputies.

According to Oregon State Police, Austin Steed, 20, Chance Pinkard, 19, and Deshone Brooks, 21, are at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility on charges of attempted murder, assault in the 1st degree and robbery in the 1st degree.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, according to Oregon State Police.
