PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Officers with the Portland Police Bureau responded to reports of a disturbance with gunfire in Waterfront Park around 10:45 p.m. Friday.

Officers in the area hear gunfire near Southwest Morrison Street even before witnesses called 911.

When officers arrived at the scene they discovered evidence of gunfire on the promenade, north of the Morrison Bridge.

They also found one person suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said it unclear if the injuries were due to gunfire.

Officers said the preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect is a black man in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack.

Police said witnesses last saw the suspect running toward the area of Southwest 2nd Avenue and Washington Street.
